DANIEL H. JANSEN

Mr. Daniel Jansen of Okawville, IL departed this life in the Memorial Hospital at Shiloh, IL on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at 6:50 A.M. He had attained the age of 87 years, 10 months, and 24 days.

Daniel was born at the home of his parents in St. Libory, IL on March 25, 1939, the son of Joseph and Rose (nee Schmidt) Jansen. He was united in marriage to Bernadette Lintker in the St. Liborius Catholic Church in St. Libory on June 5, 1962, and she survives his passing.

Mr. Jansen was a 1956 graduate of Marissa High School. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale in 1960. He then earned his Master of Education degree from the University of Illinois. Dan taught at Brownstown, IL for three years before coming to Okawville. He was hired as principal at Okawville Grade School and eventually he moved to the position of Superintendent of Okawville schools. Mr. Jansen served for 30 years in the Okawville Schol District before his retirement.

Daniel was a faithful member of the St. Barbara Catholic Church in Okawville where he previously served on the cemetery committee. He was also a former member of the Okawville Lions Club, was active in the Okawville Community Youth Association, and was a member of the Okawville Investment Club. Dan loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed golfing and going to auctions to look for hidden treasures. Most of all, he cherished spending time with his grandchildren.

Left to mourn his passing is his wife Bernadette Jansen of Okawville; five children, Mark Jansen and wife Ingrid of Rockford, IL, Paul Jansen of Okawville, Gregory Jansen and wife Jennifer of Chesterfield, MO, David Jasen and wife Dina of Plainfield, IL, and Danette Kohnle and husband Nathan of Rockford; 15 grandchildren, Kieran Jansen and wife Ally of Rockford, Conor Jansen of Rockford, Ronan Jansen of Cedar Rapids, IA, Audrey Edwards and husband Andrew of Columbia, MO, Daniel Jansen of Lakeland, FL, Joseph Jansen of Okawville, Luke Jansen, Allison Jansen, and Kayla Jansen all of Chesterfield, Alexandrea Jansen, Lauren Jansen, and Sean Jansen all of Plainfield, and Sydney Kohnle, Reese Kohnle, and Gabrielle Kohnle all of Rockford; four great grandchildren, Fiona, Declan, Liza, and Rowan; a brother, Roger Jansen of Belleville, IL; two brothers-in-law, Andrew Lintker and Robert Lintker and wife LaVerne; two sisters-in-law, Virginia Lintker and Rita Otten; numerous nieces and nephews, as well as a host of friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Norbert Jansen and his wife Marian, Edwin Jansen, Leroy Jansen, and Kenny Jansen; and five sisters, Florence Troesser and her husband Edward, Eleanor Parker and her husband Edward, Elvira Schaab and her husband Mike, Dorothy Jansen, and Rosemary Lintker.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from the St. Barbara Catholic Church in Okawville on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at 10 A.M. with Fr. Christopher Anyanwu officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may call at the Campagna Funeral Home in Okawville on Wednesday from 4 P.M. until 8 P.M. and again on Thursday from 8 A.M. until 9:30 A.M.

In lieu of flowers, mass offerings or memorial contributions can be made to the St. Barbara Building Fund, or to the Okawville Village Library and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home.
