David Ruesch Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Blue Ridge Funeral & Cremation Service on Feb. 17, 2026.
David Ames Ruesch, 81, of Weaverville, NC has passed to be with his Savior on Sunday, February 15, 2026. David was born in Waukegan, IL on July 28, 1944, to the late Carl and Alice Ruesch.

Along with his parents, David is preceded in death by his daughter, Reyna; and a son, Christopher.

In 2020, David was diagnosed with a rare blood cancer, and he fought it courageously every day since, until the Lord called him home.

He went to Zion Benton High School in Zion, IL and Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL. He went on to earn a bachelor's degree in engineering at Lake Forest College. David was an avid fisherman since he was a young child and did so whenever he had the opportunity. He started working at Johnson Motors when he was 20 years old, alongside his father and he held many positions while employed with the company. His career took him all over the world from Eastern Europe to the continent of Asia, as well as Mexico.

David retired at the age of 69 after 49 years of service with the company. He spent his retirement fishing, gardening and playing with his grandkids. He was also an active member of Grace Point Church where he faithfully served with the Men's Ministry as well as caring for the youngest members in the nursery. He became part of the NC Baptist Men Disaster Relief and Heart with Hammers to assist in rebuilding local communities after storms.

David is survived by his wife, Monica: Children, Patrick (Diane), Scott (Mary), Aaron, Rachael and Andrew (Carly); siblings, Kathleen, Donald (Mari), and Julie (Rick); along with 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, February 28, 2026 at Grace Point Church in Woodland Hills.
