I am very late in responding to the news of Ann's death which was recently forwarding to me. Ann was a student of mine in fourth grade. I was at St. Vincent de Paul parish probably fifteen years or more and ran into her. I was apologizing to her for my teaching ability or lack thereof as a twenty year old with minimal college. Ann hugged me so warmly and reassured me that I did just fine from her perspective. In fact, she relieved me of the guilt I had been feeling. I don't know if her family will ever see this message. Her kindness carried over throughout her life. I am sure she will be waiting for me on the other side for another hug.
