Emma Krantz Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Dewald Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. on Mar. 31, 2026.
Emma M. Krantz, 90, of Kirkwood, passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2026, following a brief illness. She was the widow of Paul H. Krantz and the daughter of the late Noah W. and Edna N. (Martin) Nolt.

Emma lived her entire life in Lancaster County. She spent her childhood on a beef farm

in Clay Township, her married life on a dairy farm in Strasburg Township, and her

retirement on a horse farm in Colerain Township. She and Paul were partners on their

farm where Emma took part in all tasks. She took great pride in outpacing all comers

when spearing tobacco. Emma and Paul enjoyed seeing their farm on the big screen

when it was used for the filming of the movie Witness. Emma put her Pennsylvania

Dutch heritage to good use with a small speaking role in the film.

When Paul died in 1993, Emma bravely took on new roles and stepped up when facing

difficult challenges. Physically strong her entire life, she took up jogging at age 78.

Emma enjoyed the outdoors, especially gardening and trips to Tioga County. She was a

terrific cook and baker, who produced dozens of Christmas cookies and three different

pies each holiday.

Emma was a member of Willow Street Mennonite Church and enjoyed volunteering at

the Lampeter Fair.

Emma is survived by her three daughters: Diane, wife of David Anderson; Joan, with

whom she lived in retirement; and Patricia, wife of Dan Felitsky. She is also survived by

her two grandchildren, Paul Anderson and Sarah, wife of Kevin Smeltz. She was

predeceased by her sisters: Alta Good, Vera Moyer, and Irene Stoltzfus, and her brother Melvin Nolt.

As per Emma's wishes, a private graveside service will take place in the Willow Street Mennonite Cemetery.
