Emma Nelle Brown Cummings Hill

Nelle Hill, 86, passed away June 24, 2025 at the Attala County Nursing Center.
She is preceded in death by her parents Bennie & Alma Coalter Brown, brothers Ralph Brown, Bobby Brown, Sr., and Bert Ainsworth, son Timothy Cummings, ex-husband Bill Cummings, and husband Otis Hill, Sr.
She is survived by son Steve Cummings (Cathy) of Sallis, grandchildren Stephen Cummings of Kosciusko and Cecilia Barnhill (Daniel) of Kilmichael, great-grandchildren Louis, Bobo, Gus, and Clarice Barnhill, and Bailey Hope-Cummings, along with numerous nieces, nephews and her extended church family.
Nelle worked at the Chancery Clerk's Office and Mississippi Chemical in Yazoo City, and the Cleveland Medical Clinic in Cleveland, MS. She retired after working at the McAdams Entergy-Attala Power Plant.
She was skilled at sewing and made quite a few wedding dresses, formals, and even suits, along with a number of alterations in her lifetime. She made most of her own clothing, which allowed her to buy more shoes. She enjoyed dancing, was very particular about her tastebuds, was extremely sassy, and loved to talk and make new friends.
She has maintained friendships from as far back as her early school years.
In her memory, encourage someone today, notice those who are often overlooked, share the gifts you were given because we don't all have the same gifts and none have all – we need each other. Take the flowers to the nursing home residents and shut-ins (she always bragged on those beautiful flowers and those who brought them – we know they don't last but there is joy in that day!). Bring food or other needs to new moms, struggling families, or "just because" - don't forget those who haven't been to church in a while. Cultivate friendships and share the Light and Love of Jesus Christ.
