Emma Normington Obituary
Emma J. Normington, of Belding, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2024 at the age of 89. She was born in Riley Township on June 8, 1935 to Charles C. and Anna E. (Truesdell) Valentine. Emma married the love of her life, Lyman R. Normington on October 28, 1958 and they shared 65 years of marriage together. She was a devoted member of First Christian Church in Ionia for many years. Emma enjoyed reading, crafting, and sewing in her spare time. Above all, Emma was a proud homemaker, she spent countless hours making sure her family was well taken care of. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Preceding Emma in death are her parents; sisters, Mary Tasker, Susan Stowell, and Nancy Kirk; and brothers, Wayne Valentine, David Valentine, and Richard Valentine. Left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband, Lyman Normington of Belding; sons, Ray (Holly) Normington of Rockford and David Normington of Belding; daughter, Susan (Ken) Crawford of Belding; six grandchildren: Taylor, Cody, Lindsey, Devin, Andy, and Sierra; great-grandchild, Jasper Normington; and brothers, Buster (Barbara) Valentine of Ionia and Clare (Viva) Valentine of Lowell.
The Funeral Service honoring Emma will be held at held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 24, 2024 at the Lehman Funeral Home, 220 Rich Street, Ionia. The family will receive friends beginning one hour prior to the service at the funeral chapel. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Muir. I'm so sorry for your loss. Emma was a sweet woman that loved her family beyond words. Her love was displayed in how she cared for her family and friends. She always made my family feel welcome, even when we hadn't seen her for years.
