Linda L. Normington, wife of Carter, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2025, in
Indianapolis, IN, at the age of 76. Born on May 12, 1949, in Louisville, KY, to the late Robert J Byroad and Gloria R (Bunch) Byroad, Linda's life was marked by her unwavering faith and her dedication to her loved ones.
Linda's journey through life was shared with her devoted husband of 54 years, Carter Normington. Together, they proudly welcomed their daughter, Emily (Cory) Johnson, and son, Joshua Normington. Linda's joy was multiplied with the arrival of her grandchildren, Cole and Asher, who will remember her as a loving and spirited grandmother. She was preceded in death by her younger brothers Jim (Debbie) Byroad and Larry Byroad. Her extended family, including nieces Rachel (Kevin) and Lyndsay (Caleb), nephews Steven, Cameron, and Joseph, great-nephews Finn, Jed Parker, and Grayson and great-niece Valerie will miss her deeply.
Before becoming the matriarch of her family, Linda dedicated her early years to nurturing her children, embodying the role of a homemaker with grace and dedication. Her involvement with Perry Township Schools was a testament to her commitment to education and community, serving as the president of the PTA and leaving a lasting impact on the lives she touched. Linda's entrepreneurial spirit shone through her successful venture of selling Longaberger baskets for over two decades, endearing herself to many with her charm and business acumen.
Linda's professional life later transitioned to the role of an Administrative Assistant at a physical therapy office, where her organizational skills and warm demeanor were greatly valued. Her leadership qualities were further recognized in her volunteer work as the president of the governing body of her beloved church, Faith United Church of Christ in Indianapolis. Linda's deep care for her faith community was evident in her tireless efforts and the positive changes she inspired.
Those who knew Linda would describe her as a "force to be reckoned with," a woman whose feisty spirit remained undiminished until her final days. Her life was a testament to her faith-filled nature, as she consistently put the needs of others before her own and approached every challenge with a kind heart.
A memorial service will be held to honor Linda's life on Saturday, November 15 at 3PM at Singleton and St.Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory. The family will receive guests at the funeral home from 1PM until the time of service.
