Emma Jean (Sharp) Pharris, age 82, passed into the hands of the Lord on April 22, 2024 just before 4:00AM in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
She was born on December 17, 1941 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to John Paul Sharp and Eleanor Catherine (Forbes) Sharp. Emma Jean and her twin brother Emmitt Dean were the youngest of six siblings.
Emma, who preferred her middle name "Jean" is survived by her sons, Robert A. Pharris, Jr. and John C. Pharris; her daughters-in-law, MaryAnn Pharris and Karey A. Pharris; her grandchildren, Paul R. Pharris and wife Briana, Brian J. Pharris, Aaron J. Pharris and wife Shonnie, James Allen and wife Carrie, Jessica Allen, Annika A. Pharris, and Aiden C. Pharris; her great-grandchildren, Cobin Pharris, Declan Pharris, Nellie Pharris, Ezri Pharris, Abigail Allen, and Kaleb Ebeck; her nieces, Lyna Stephenson, Carla Stanley (husband Keith), Rebecca Schilling (husband Frank); her nephews, Harry Anson, Jr. (wife Kathy) and Barry Lee (wife Sandra); and by her brothers-in-law, Joe Pharris, Gene Pharris (wife Donna), and Russell Pharris (wife Mary).
Jean graduated from Brazosport High School in Freeport, Texas. This is where she met the love of her life, Robert Pharris. He asked her to marry him and her father's permission when she was 17 years old (11th grade). Her father agreed, providing she finish high school while Robert (who joined the Air Force) was on a one year remote assignment in Thule, Greenland. Her beautiful love story and legacy began in 1959 with her husband. Although she has family and ties to Oklahoma, she spent most of her life in Texas, where a large number of family members live. She always said that Colorado has nothing on the Texas bluebonnet. This was her favorite flower. Jeanie, as Robert would call her, was saved from an early age and raised in a Christian home. Over the course of 25 years of support as an Air Force spouse, her family had multiple assignment locations in the Continental United States, Hawaii, and the Philippines. She was a fantastic homemaker (Domestic Engineer), cook, and organizer. Her devotion to God, Husband, Family, and Country was second to none!
Some of Jean's hobbies included cooking, crocheting, decorating, gardening, various arts/crafts, visiting family/friends, and helping people. Her passion for serving God and the Church touched so many.
She will be missed on this Earth, but we look forward to seeing her in heaven!
