On the evening of September 9, 2025, Enrique "Henry" Barrera, passed away, surrounded by family, at Tulare Adventist Hospital.
Enrique was born on July 15, 1940, in Mercedes, Texas, to Jose and Maria Barrera. Enrique was one of six children. His siblings Alfredo, Paco, David, Juanita and Chavela. Enrique spent many of his younger years traveling from Texas to California, working in the fields. Enrique often bragged about his ability to identify various fruit trees from a mile away.
Enrique eventually settled in Fresno, California, where he worked as a ranch hand raising cattle. He expressed his love for animals, nature, and of course, the ladies. Enrique was an outgoing, social butterfly, who would talk to anyone that would listen. You may need an interpreter to understand his broken English, but that wouldn't stop him talking your ear off.
Enrique had 6 children. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Maria Isabele Barrera, and his son Enrique "Peewee" Barrera jr. He is survived by his children Guadalupe Barrera, Esteban Barrera and Jose Barrera, and his daughter, Kelly Barrera. Enrique was a proud father and loved all his children dearly, even though they were "too much".
In his later years, Enrique was a proud grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great grandfather. With a total of 11 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
Enrique will be remembered as a God-fearing man, a hardworking man, a family man, and a ladies man.
