Erasmo Flores Perez, a man of profound hard work, infectious laughter, and a spirit that thrived outdoors, passed away on February 1, 2026, at the age of 78.
Born on November 25, 1947 in Lagunillas, San Luis Potosí, Mexico, Erasmo was the eldest son of Juan Perez and Margarita Flores. His journey eventually led him to the United States, where he exemplified the meaning of a tireless work ethic. Erasmo dedicated close to 20 years to Lipsitz Scrap and Metal in Waco, Texas before serving another 22 years at Southwest Maintenance, from which he eventually retired.
While he was a dedicated employee, his true passions were found outdoors. Erasmo was happiest on the ranch he built with his own hands, tending to his cattle and nurturing his tree nursery. He had a natural gift for growing things and a spirit that found peace in the rhythm of ranch life.
Erasmo was the cornerstone of a very large and vibrant family. He was known for his quick wit, a smile that could brighten even the darkest room, and his love for cooking, a gift he shared generously during family gatherings. He taught his children the value of a hard day’s work and the importance of showing up for the people you love.
He is reunited in peace with his parents, Juan and Margarita.
Erasmo’s legacy lives on through his wife of 46 years, Mary Delores Perez; his children in Mexico, Cornelio Hernandez Diaz, Erasmo Hernandez Diaz, and Edith Hernandez Diaz; and his children in Texas, Michelle Estrada of Dallas, Herman Estrada and wife Nancy of Ft. Worth, Valentin Estrada and wife Reyna of Lott, Cory Estrada, Sr. and wife Rebecca of Moody, and Shane Estrada and wife Iliana of Temple. He also leaves behind a vast legacy of siblings, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, far too many to count but each one deeply loved.
He will be remembered as a builder of dreams, someone who found quiet peace outdoors, and a man who loved his family above all else.
Pallbearers will be: Herman Estrada, Valentin Estrada, Cory Estrada, Sr., Shane Estrada, Cory Estrada, Jr., and Jason Estrada.
Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 13, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home with interment following at Perez Family Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 12, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home.
