Erbie Rex Keys Jr., age 76, of Oswego, New York, passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 6, 2025, while visiting his son in Port Charlotte, Florida. A hardworking carpenter, loyal friend, loving father and grandfather, Erbie lived his life with quiet strength, deep integrity, and an unapologetic authenticity that endeared him to all who knew him.
Born in Penns Grove, New Jersey, where he lived most of his childhood, he lived in many different states before eventually making his home in Oswego, New York, where he spent many meaningful years with family and friends. He is survived by his loving girlfriend, Debbie Geddes of Martville, New York; his sons, Jerrett Keys of Port Charlotte, FL, and Erik Keys and his wife, Nicole Keys, of Taono, Virginia; and his cherished grandchildren, Cayden Keys, Hudson Keys, and Bryleigh Hart and Hadleigh Hart of Mexico, New York. Bryleigh and Hadleigh are the daughters of Erbie's late daughter, Jessica Keys, who preceded him in death and remained forever close to his heart.
Erbie loved his two sons deeply and truly cherished their company. He found great pride in the men they became and valued the strong bond they shared, built on mutual respect, loyalty, and love.
He enjoyed the simple pleasures in life: spending time with his family, watching NASCAR, football, or baseball, and cheering on all of his favorite Philadelphia teams - the Eagles, Phillies, Flyers, and 76ers. With a sharp wit, a tough exterior, and a heart that ran deep, Erbie lived fully and left a legacy of strength and love.
A private viewing for family and close friends will be held prior to cremation. In keeping with Erbie's wishes, all services will remain private. His presence will be deeply missed, yet his spirit remains alive in the lessons he imparted, the love he shared, and the countless lives he touched.
Contributions can be made directly to Jerrett Keys or sent to the family.
WYSIWYG- you will be missed and in our hearts forever.
Love you Dad!
