Mr. Eric Alston Obituary
Eric Maurice Alston, affectionately known as "Big O" to family and close friends, was born on March 4, 1968. He returned to his heavenly home on October 30, 2025, at the age of 57.
Maurice was born and raised in
Winnsboro, South Carolina to the parents of Carrie Alston and Marvin Craig. Maurice attended Winnsboro High School with the class of 1986. He was a member of the Spoilers softball team and a former member of Fidelity 33 Masonic Lodge of
Winnsboro, SC.
Maurice was known for his infectious smile and was always laughing and joking. You couldn't be around Maurice without laughing. He was the epitome of a father and grandfather to his children. His family meant the world to him, and he was a bright light in our world. To know Maurice was to love him. If he had it to give, if you needed his help, Maurice was there. He may have talked a little junk, but we all knew that was expected and it came with a laugh! Promise him a plate, and Maurice was going to show up! And don't throw away any leftovers because "Man that food still good"!
Maurice loved softball and football. If you knew Maurice, you knew not to say one bad thing about his Dallas Cowboys and you had better not talk bad about Prescott; Prescott was going to get the job done. He would say "I got faith in Prescott" but we all know Prescott let him down several times. He was also a big Lakers fan. In his down time, he enjoyed being with family, especially his brother Hick and his longtime friends Eric and Terry.
Maurice was blessed with a large and loving family. He leaves to cherish his loving memories, his children, Charnissa Williamson, Kendra Young, Marisha Alston, Erika Alston, Juwhona Alston, Afrika Alston all of
Winnsboro, SC and Maurice Dayvon Alston, also a bonus child Kwame Foster of Great Falls, SC; his significant other Arlene Lamar of Great Falls; his Mother, Carrie Alston; devoted Aunts Maggie McCants and Margie Craig Sturdivant; his siblings, Detra Alston of Columbia, SC, Mike Alston (Chasity),of Blair, SC, Toby Alston (Arnae) of San Antonio, Texas, Stacie Phylicia of Greenville, SC, Telicia Simmons(Marcus) of Columbia, SC,Julie Jones-Miller, Victor Alston, and Rodney Jackson all of
Winnsboro, SC. Two devoted special friends, Eric McCrory and Terry Gibson. Maurice cherished his twelve grandchildren, Breone, Chase, Chace, Jae'Dyn, Da'Mariah, Cherrish, Ari, Madilynn, Chozen, Kylee, Savannah and Italy. Maurice also leaves with great memories a host of nieces and nephews. He has a host of beautiful Aunts and Uncles who will continue to celebrate his life, and the memories created with each of them.
