Eric Baldwin Obituary

Eric Lee Baldwin

Jul 25, 1961 - Sep 10, 2024

Milan

Eric Lee Baldwin, 63, of Milan, entered eternal rest Tuesday morning, Sept. 10, 2024.

He was born July 25, 1961, in Elmira, New York, to Jack and Bonita (Olson) Baldwin. Eric was a graduate of Norwalk High School and attended The Ohio State University.

Eric will be fondly remembered as an incredibly selfless and loving husband, father, and grandfather who was hardworking, funny, compassionate, and always dedicated to his family and friends. He was a mentor to many and a leader who often found opportunities to spontaneously bring motivational, funny, and goofy energy to situations. His love for his wife of over 37 years, Lynette (Schaffer) Baldwin, was the constant recipient of his daily love and appreciation, which he expressed through countless gestures of affection. Equally strong was his love and pride for his children, Christopher and Christina, always checking in on them and expressing how much they enriched his life. He cherished being a grandfather, or "papa" to Myles, in which he would light up when he heard the words "hi papa!"

Eric loved sports and as a fan of all Ohio sports, also displayed the character trait of dedication. He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Milan and worked in various insurance roles with Symetra, Allstate, I.N.G., Pamco, Sage, and most recently, D.M.I.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lynette (Schaffer) Baldwin; children, Christopher Lee (Kirsten) Baldwin and Christina (David) Baldwin-Gilchrist; grandson, Myles; sister, Tammy (Ron) Schaffer; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Mark (Diane) Schaffer, Sister Carolyn Schaffer, Donald Schaffer, Randy (Brandy) Schaffer, Scott (Cheryl) Schaffer, Jody Schaffer, Michelle (Roger) Jones, Matt (Jody) Schaffer, and Brenda (Carl) Geyer; aunt, LaVonne Olson; uncle, Steven (Pat) Olson; nieces, Sonia (Brian) Barker, Renee (Kyle) Martin, and Nichole (Talmadge) Harder; great-nieces and great-nephews, Brady (also his Godson) and Anthony Barker, Mia and Aubrie Martin, and Grant, Colin, Landon, and Brielle Harder; four-legged companion, Gracie; and many other family members and friends.

Eric was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law and father-in-law, John (Doris) Schaffer; brother-in-law, Dennis Schaffer; sister-in-law, Angela Schlotterer; and dog, Charger.

Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15, 2024, at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St. Funeral Mass will be 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16, 2024, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 1322 Settlement Rd., Norwalk, with Fr. Ron Schock conducting services. Burial will follow at St. Alphonsus Cemetery and dinner will be provided at the St. Alphonsus Hall to conclude.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association, PO Box 7023, Merrifield, Virginia, 22116.
