A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, August 19, 2024 at 2:00 pm in St. Peter Catholic Church for Eric J Chiasson, 81, who passed away August 13, 2024. Father Christopher Cambre will be the Celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Camille Chiasson and Jennifer Politz will be the lectors; gift bearers will be Alexia Wheaton and Lillian Martin. Phyllis Simar and Angela Comeaux will perform "Amazing Grace", "Old Rugged Cross", "On Eagles Wings" "Take My Hand, Precious Lord", and "Be Not Afraid". Interment will follow the Mass in St. Peter Cemetery. 

Survivors include wife, Frances Chiasson of Lafayette; one daughter, Stacia (Shawn) Breaux of Lafayette; two sons, Tim (Jennifer) Chiasson of Baton Rouge, and Jason (Jamie) Chiasson of Lafayette; one sister, Margaret Bernis of Bossier City; four grandchildren, Cory Chiasson, Camille Chiasson, Adam Chiasson, and Alexia Wheaton; one great-granddaughter, Lillian Martin; and his extended family, that he loved as his own.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Agles and Rousseau Chiasson; one sister, Florence Chiasson; and one brother, Kenneth Chiasson.

Eric was a lifelong resident of Lafayette. He was a truck driver for Union Camp and Southern Pacific Transport, and in later years drove the school bus for the Episcopal School of Acadiana. 

Pallbearers will be Ashton Chiasson, Charles Sonnier, Tim Chiasson, Jason Chiasson, Cory Chiasson, and Adam Chiasson. Honorary pallbearers include Jim Bellow and Gerald Bellow.

The family requests that visitation be held on Monday between the hours of 9:00 am - 1:30 pm. A rosary will be led by Sr. Doris Roy, S.E.C. on Monday morning at 11:00 am.
