Henderson, Nevada- With great sadness, we share the peaceful passing of Eric Russell Enterline, 78, on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, following a swift and aggressive form of cancer.
Born in Corpus Christi, Texas, on September 8, 1947, to Elizabeth “Libby” and Russell “Red” Enterline, Eric spent his youth as a “Navy brat,” living all over the country. He would share stories from that time, like gorging on apricots from an orchard while walking home from school- a memory that, after a few too many apricots, led to a lifelong aversion to the fruit. In 1965, at the age of 18, Eric enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He served proudly for 10 years, completing two tours in Vietnam and later working on recruiting duty, where he would meet the love of his life, Sharon Kay Schlenvogt. They were married on July 6, 1974, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. Together, they spent over 51 years creating a beautiful legacy of love, mutual respect, and laughter—“never hating each other at the same time.”
Eric worked in retail management for 21 years with JCPenney before fulfilling a long-held dream of becoming a business owner, which he did for 15 years. Customers knew him by name and often stayed around just to chat. When he wasn’t hard at work, Eric could most often be found nurturing his yard (which he took great pride in), playing his guitar or accordion, making his way through an adventure in the latest computer game Darin got him, or spending time with his family. He was regularly accused of being a cheater at Monopoly, where we swear he was stuffing money under his chair. To our knowledge, all other games he played fairly.
Eric is survived by his wife, Shar; their children, Darin (Las Vegas, NV) and Shauna (Olympia, WA); and their grandchildren, Solace, Kendyl, Grace, Adia, and Devyn.
A brief funeral service will be held at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, Nevada on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at 12:40pm. A Celebration of Life will follow from 2-5pm at Eric and Shar’s home, where his backyard oasis will serve as the perfect setting to honor him. As Eric would say, all are welcome—especially the “criers and wailers.”
The family requests no flowers; your presence and support are more than enough.
