Star Mortuary & Crematory - Boulder CityRyan Dennis Barry, age 52 passed away on March 5, 2026 at his home in Boulder City, Nevada. Ryan was born October 28, 1973 in Medford, Oregon to Dennis C Barry and Diane (West) Barry. He was raised in Redding, California where he attended Cypress Grade School, Sequoia Junior High School before graduating from Shasta High School. During his childhood he was active in Redding Youth Baseball and the Redding Swim Team.
As a teenager he helped out in his parents business, Independent Business Forms, Inc. His responsibilities included painting the exterior of the building, handling janitorial duties and helping count tax forms during tax season. Ryan loved spending summers swimming and water skiing at Whiskeytown Lake and Shasta Lake.
Ryan went on to earn his bachelor's degree from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, where he played water polo and served as team captain during his junior and senior years. During the summers, he worked as a lifeguard on California State Beaches.
Later, Ryan owned and operated Northern Stone Tools, LLC in Portland, Oregon, a business that supplied tools to companies installing stone countertops in homes. Seven years ago he moved to Boulder City, Nevada where he lived until his passing.
Ryan loved living in Boulder City and was a great help to his parents, especially when his father developed Alzheimer's disease. He often escorted his dad to Rotary meetings and helped manage various responsibilities. After his dad passed away, Ryan continued serving the community by helping his mother deliver "Meals on Wheels" on Tuesday mornings.
At his best, Ryan had a gift for connecting with people. He was known for striking up conversations with just about anyone in the room and had a natural way of keeping those around him laughing.
Ryan is survived by his mother, Diane Barry of Boulder City, Nevada, his sister and brother-in-law, Rick and Angie Schertle, of San Jose, California; and Angie and Rick's kids, Kelly and Micah Schertle of Chicago, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his father, Dennis Barry.
A celebration of life will be held Friday, March 27 at 5 PM at the Patio Restaurant in Boulder City. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lend a Hand or Emergency Aid or Meals on Wheels of Boulder City or the charity of your choice.
