Eric Smith Huffman age 49, passed away on September 12, 2025, at his home in Rugby, VA surrounded by his family and is now resting peacefully, awaiting the return of Jesus.
Eric was preceded in death by his grandparents, Edward and Jettie Huffman of Lenoir, NC and Smith and Virginia Greer of Rugby, VA.
Born on May 21, 1976, Eric is survived by his parents, Dan and Anita Huffman. Two sisters and brother-in-law, Ginger and Russell Petersen and Tina Huffman. As well as aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Eric held an associate’s degree in electronics engineering and later in life worked as a dental technician in his own dental lab making dentures.
Eric was an active member of the Konnarock Seventh-day Adventist church and held several church offices including elder, church clerk, adult Sabbath School teacher, and head of the audio-visual department. He was also a lay preacher who spoke frequently at his own church and other local Seventh-day Adventist churches. Eric was a strong and yet gentle advocate for Bible truth, and he had a way of explaining complex concepts making them easy to understand.
Eric was lifelong learner and enjoyed a wide variety of hobbies including playing the guitar, playing and tuning pianos, singing in the family trio, song writing, learning Spanish, gardening, reviving old tractors, machining, welding, studying the Bible, writing articles and papers on Biblical topics including a book that will be published posthumously.
The family will receive friends at the Konnarock Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Konnarock Va. at 590 Konnarock Rd. Damascus, VA on Sunday, September 21 from 3:00-4:30pm with the funeral service following at 4:30pm. A fellowship meal for family and friends provided by the Konnarock Seventh-day Adventist church family will follow the service. A graveside service will held at a later date.
