Eric Thomas Lear, 55, of Tomahawk, Wisconsin, passed away on August 3, 2025, with his wife by his side.
Born in Greenbrae, California, on May 14, 1970, Eric lived a life full of adventure, laughter, and love.
He was the proud owner of Home Comfort Systems for the past 23 years, a Lennox dealership in Minocqua, Wisconsin.
A passionate aviator, Eric was in the process of earning his private pilot's license. In the past he spent many days flying paramotors with his wife Jade around the Tomahawk area, often launching from the local airport or Sara Park. Together, they hosted fly-ins that brought joy to their close-knit flying community and people of Tomahawk.
Eric also had a deep love for motorsports and raced in both the Championship Off-Road and National Off-Road Racing Association events at Crandon International Off-Road Raceway. Whether in the air or on the track, Eric chased life with boldness and a contagious spirit.
He was known for his endless generosity, quick wit, and the kind of humor that made those around him laugh-even in his final hours. His joy for life, adventurous heart, and unwavering love for his family will be deeply missed.
Eric is survived by his beloved wife Jade of Tomahawk, his daughters Mariah of Des Moines, IA, and Savannah of Sayner, WI, and his parents, Gregory and Jean Lear of Lynden, WA and stepson, Brady Marten (Ella Guillaume) Schofield, WI. He is also survived by his four brothers: Todd (Stephany) of Sparks, NV; Andy (Angel) of Anchorage, AK; Alex (Clarissa Plenning) of Bozeman, MT; and Adam of Nagoya, Japan. He was a cherished uncle to Vivian and Jonathan (Anchorage, AK), and Samantha "Sammy" (Nagoya, Japan), and a loving nephew to Auntie Joan Boileau (Olympia, WA).
He was preceded in death by his brother Gregory Scott "Scotty" and his niece Mizuki.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, August 8, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at John Buettgen Funeral Home, 948 Grand Avenue, Schofield, WI. A special farewell "exit," weather permitting, will follow at 1:00 p.m.
In true Eric fashion, guests are encouraged to bring stories, smiles, and memories to share. His was a life worth celebrating-and one that will never be forgotten. "Blue Skies & Tailwinds" to you Eric, until I see you again.
