Eric Leibowitz Obituary
Eric David Leibowitz, age 78, of Media, PA, passed on November 2nd, 2025. He was born in Brooklyn, NY, and resided in Massachusetts for almost 50 years before moving to Pennsylvania to be closer to his cherished grandchildren. Nothing was more important to him than his family.
Eric had a strong faith in God, which helped him guide his family and all he did, especially his work in helping others as a psychotherapist, his field of practice for almost 50 years. It also inspired his incredible generosity. Eric always looked for ways to help family, friends, and others in need.
Eric loved baseball his entire life and was an avid Mets fan through their ups and downs. He also excelled at photography, loved reading Science Fiction, and listening to music. In his younger days, he loved a good New York pizza.
He is predeceased by his parents, Sherry (nee Kass) and Mitchell Leibowitz.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth (nee Weiss) Leibowitz; his sons, Michael (Joanne) and Gabriel; his grandchildren, Harrison, Oliver, and Zoë; his sister, Stefani Rifkind (Shaul); and his nephews, Eli, Noam, Joseph, and Brian.
Relatives, friends, and church parishioners are invited to his Viewing on Wednesday, November 5th, at 10:00 am, followed by his Funeral Service at 11:00 am, both at St. Herman of Alaska Orthodox Church,1855 Middletown Rd, Glen Mills, PA 19342. Internment (12:30pm) is at Edgewood Memorial Park, Glen Mills, PA 19342.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Herman of Alaska Orthodox Church (https://store.sthermansoca.org/) or to the financial aid fund at his grandchildren's school–The Grayson School (giving.veracross.com/thegraysonschool/online-giving).

I was so sorry to learn of Eric's passing. Eric had a profound effect on my development, both professional and personal. Through Eric, I learned that death is not something to be feared but rather an experience to be honored. I hope that his final days were ones of fulfillment, and peace.

Eric was my therapist for about 9 years. I have seen a number of different therapists on and off over the past 33 years, and he was the best I ever had. He helped me through so much, and was a smart, funny, insightful person, and someone who had an exceptional understanding of the nuances of autism.
When I got the email on Monday informing me of his passing, I was shocked. Although our relationship was professional, I know I will personally miss him. My condolences to his family, friends, and other patients.
