LITCHFIELD - Phil Paul Leibowitz, 80, of Litchfield, died Friday, October 10, 2025, at MaineHealth - Maine Medical Center, in Portland, following a brief illness. He was born in Gardiner, Maine on November 26, 1944, the fifth child of Isadore and Doris Harlow Leibowitz.
He grew up in Richmond and graduated from Richmond High School and promptly proceeded into the work force in the greater central Maine area, never lacking the opportunity to support his family. He married Rayna Bonin of Litchfield in 1964, and they recently celebrated their 61st Anniversary.
His favorite activities focused on automotive topics, repairing vehicles, reading about them, talking about them and chasing parts. He had an extensive collection of tools for almost every need but was always looking to expand his toolbox.
He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Ronald, two sisters Elaine King and Patty Billings.
He is survived by his wife, Rayna Leibowitz; daughter Amy Reynolds (William), two grandchildren Carlin and David Reynolds; and a brother David Leibowitz (Renette). He will be greatly missed by his best friends, two cats Lexi and Fred; and his dog Quinn, along with Peter, John, David and Sue.
Services will be held Friday, Oct. 17 at the Litchfield Plains Baptist Church at 56 Plains Rd. Visiting will be 9:00 to 11:00 AM with the funeral at 11:00. Burial will be at the Litchfield Plains Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Phil's memory to the Litchfield Food Bank, PO Box 306, Litchfield, Maine 04350.
Arrangements and guidance are in the care of Staples Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 53 Brunswick Avenue, Gardiner, Maine.
