Eric McManis Obituary
Eric is survived by his parents Robert J. and Karen Beth Gladney, brothers Sean Michael (Jr.) and Kevin Patrick McManis, sisters Amanda Leigh Woertz, Kate Elizabeth and Kimberly Erin McManis and Melissa Lynn Kajder, grandmother Ruth Guldin, grandparents Joseph and Theresa Grinkewicz and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
A self proclaimed genius, Eric's intelligence shone through in almost everything he did growing up. From reading to writing, from drawing to learning music, he was limitlessly talented. The thing he was most proud of was that he was an amazing self taught guitarist and he never stopped pushing himself to get better and better.
But Eric's intelligence and his talents were exceeded only by his desperate need to fit in and to impress everyone around him.
He struggled for a very long time with accepting himself for who he was and with accepting that he didn't need to be a world renowned scientist or a wildly successful politician or a music superstar for his family and friends to accept and love him.
He was loved exactly as he was soft, sensitive and loving with a huge forgiving heart.
Family and close friends are welcome to come and say a final farewell to Eric on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at 11 AM at Faries Funeral Home, located at 29 S. Main Street in Smyrna, DE. The visitation will begin at 11 AM and the memorial service will start at 12 PM.
The family is asking that in lieu of flowers you please make a donation to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

You were one of my closest friends for almost 16 years. Almost like a brother to me. Even when our relationship went through its rough patches at times, I never stopped caring about you. I hope you're at peace now and I know we'll see each other again some day. Rest in peace.

I am still in shock over this and can´t stop thinking back to when we were kids, and the world was new and open, you were always confident in your views and ways and had the craziest talks and theories.. I´ll miss you so much man. I wish I had my old phone to post some pics of that big goofy smile, I hope you´re resting easy now
