Eric S. Petterson

Eric Sigfried Petterson passed away peacefully on December 27, 2024, in Marlton, New Jersey. He was 81 years old. Born on November 14, 1943, to Carl and Grace Petterson, both deceased, Eric grew up with his siblings Doris Budlong (deceased), Brian Petterson, and Mark Petterson. On April 10, 1965, he married the love of his life, Carleen Petterson. Together they shared nearly six decades of marriage filled with adventure and devotion. Eric had a long and rewarding career with IBM before taking early retirement, moving to Annapolis, MD to pursue his passion for sailing. In January 2000, he became a licensed captain and began teaching sailing courses at the Maryland School of Sailing. This new chapter led Eric and Carleen to live aboard their sailboat "Island Time", exploring the Caribbean islands and even sailing across the Atlantic Ocean to visit the Azores and Canary Islands. Eric is survived by his wife Carleen; his son Jeffrey Petterson; and his beloved grandchildren Kaitlyn and Noah Petterson. Eric's adventurous spirit and love for the sea left an indelible mark on those who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to all who cherished him. Visitation will be held at Lasting Tributes Funeral Care, 814 Bestgate Road, Annapolis, MD 21401 on Monday, January 6, 2025. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm, followed by a Memorial Service at 2 pm.
