Eric Poll Obituary

Published by Legacy from Jul. 19 to Jul. 20, 2025.
Eric Winston Poll December 1, 1965 – July 16, 2025 Eric Winston Poll passed away unexpectedly on July 16, 2025, at his home in Lake Worth, Florida. He was 59. Born in Queens, New York, on December 1, 1965, Eric, the oldest of three siblings, grew up in Lake Success, where his sense of humor, loyalty, and infectious laugh became his early calling cards. He graduated from Great Neck South High School in 1983. A talented athlete, he enjoyed the camaraderie of the football and swim team, of which he was co-captain. He was especially proud to have been part of the school's undefeated, division-title-winning football team - a highlight he never forgot. Eric earned a degree in business from Rochester Institute of Technology and went onto work alongside his father, Jerry, as a manufacturer's rep for major furniture companies. But his real passions were outside of work, and he was most alive near the water. He loved fishing off the pier, swimming in the pool, diving into poolside shenanigans with his niece Fern, or quizzing his youngest sister, Caryn, about marine life, which she always answered as the family's resident aquatic veterinarian. He had a gift for storytelling, for making people laugh, and for giving practical advice - whether you wanted it or not. Friends called him a "walking, talking search engine," years before that was a thing. He was an avid TV and movie fan and could remember an appropriate movie or Simpsons quote for every moment and often communicated in movie lines with his siblings like it was a second language. Eric also took on a quiet but steady role helping care for his mother, Suzi, in recent years. If you visited her, you'd likely see his handiwork - from block-printed labels on household items to organizing and running community BBQs or neighborhood upgrades he helped manage. He showed his love by being involved. Eric's love for his daughter Emily never wavered even though they were apart. He followed her milestones, celebrated her successes from afar, and remained proud of the person she has become. He is survived by his beloved daughter, Emily Poll; his mother, Suzi Poll; his sister, Caryn Poll; his brother-in-law, Adam Lyon; and his niece, Fern Lyon. He was predeceased by his father, Jerry Poll, and his beloved sister, Sheryl Poll, who passed less than two years ago. Eric will be remembered not only for his sharp humor and loud laugh, but for his love of family, his loyalty to his friends, his passion for the outdoors, and the many little ways he made life brighter. In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations in Eric's memory to a charity of your choice.
