Eric Alan Poulson, 52, passed away on 3 July 2025 at his home in Paradise, Utah, after 3 ½ years battling metastatic esophageal cancer.
Eric was born 7 June 1973 in Pocatello, Idaho, to Neil J and Marita Jean Mann Poulson. He was the second of two children. He and his older sister Teresa grew up on their parents’ farm in American Falls, Idaho. Even at a young age he was quick to learn how things worked. While working alongside his family he learned adaptability, perseverance and problem solving. He also loved riding his motorcycle with his friends.
After graduating from American Falls High School in 1991, Eric and his best friend, Shane Nowell loaded up Shane's Honda Accord and moved to Utah State University. He earned his Bachelor's and then Master’s in Mechanical Engineering. His second year at USU he met Tamie Slaugh. On 28 March 1998 they married in the Vernal (Utah) Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
His greatest desire was spending time with Tamie and doing all he could to make her happy. They enjoyed spending time in the mountains…camping, hiking, hunting, nature rides, shed antler hunting, etc. He enjoyed serving in various church callings and singing in his church choir. He served in the Logan (Utah) Temple as a temple ordinance worker for 5 years. He was always working on a project, from home remodeling / improving, building a garage, installing solar panels, helping Tamie with her projects, or helping his parents, family or friends with their projects. He had a very creative mind for problem solving. Always patient, kind, and not easily offended. Always optimistic, grateful and smiling. He never let his cancer define him; he adapted to the side effects of his treatments and continued to live his life to the fullest. The world was a better place with Eric in it.
His main employment for over 20 years was as a mechanical engineer at Autonomous Solutions Incorporated. He greatly enjoyed working for ASI and found much satisfaction in his work and the people he worked with. He also enjoyed private work on the side for various businesses.
Eric is survived by his wife Tamie Poulson (Paradise, Utah), parents Neil and Marita Poulson (American Falls, Idaho), sister Teresa Poulson (San Mateo, California), mother-in-law Marci Whitaker (Paradise, Utah), and father-in-law and step-mother-in-law Ivan Glen and Crystal Slaugh (Vernal, Utah).
There will be a graveside service held for Eric on Monday, July 7, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Paradise Cemetery in Paradise, Utah where his body will be laid to rest.
