Eric M. Reed, 74 of Slatington, PA, passed away in his home with his family by his side and went to meet his Savior on Thursday, July 18, 2024. Born January 26, 1950, in Allentown, PA, he was the son of the late Stanley N. Reed and the late Judith (Guss) Reed. He was the devoted husband of Joanne (Leferovich) Reed with whom he shared 46 years of marriage last November 26, 2023.
Eric was a Catasauqua, PA resident most of his early years before his family moved to Levittown, PA and graduated from Neshaminy High School. He continued his education earning an associate of arts from Bucks County Community College and a bachelor of science degree in Elementary Education from Millersville University - substituting for a few years, before shifting his working career to plumbing that followed in his father's and family's footsteps. He first started with family, then went to work for Schuler Service, Allentown, PA and finished his career with Steve Agentis Plumbing, Bethlehem, PA in 2013. Eric was a Master Plumber. Eric was a member of Lehigh Valley Grace Church, he was a follower of Jesus, sharing the word that changed his life and encouraging others' lives. He always wanted to point others to Jesus, because his life was changed from that personal choice. He enjoyed spending time in the great outdoors, seeing God's beauty in all creation. Eric enjoyed hiking, gardening, and collecting insects. He spent time with others in small groups at church, leading group basketball, and often greeting at church. His love of sports had him attending many of his kids' and grandkids' sporting events throughout the years.
Eric was a son, brother, nephew, cousin, uncle, friend, husband, father, & grandfather who could be described by family and friends as kind, calm, steadfast, stoic, sweet, strong, silly, young-at-heart, goofy, humble, helpful, consistent, contemplative, encouraging, inviting, honest, grounded, inspiring, dependable, caring, giving, gentle, godly, funny, smart, hard-working, loving, peaceful, honorable, and faithful.
He lived a life of service helping his family, friends, and neighbors in any way he was able.
Surviving with his wife Joanne are son, Stephen Reed and Kaleena Neff of Lehighton, PA, daughter, Erica Green (Kevin) of Kalamazoo, MI, sisters, Susan Oeschle (Ed) of Center Valley, PA, Linda Fitzgibons (late Jerry) of Bristol, PA, and Jan Hankel (Bruce) of Morrisville, PA; 6 grandchildren; Gabriel, Alivia, Lucas, Felix, Adalyn, and Anna; and many beloved nieces, nephews, & cousins.
Funeral Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Schisler Funeral Home, 2119 Washington Ave. Northampton, PA 18067 has been entrusted with his care and services.
Contributions: May be made in his memory to Lehigh Valley Grace Church care of the funeral home.
