Eric Jason "Ricky" Sanders

Mr. Eric Jason Sanders, affectionately known to many as "Ricky", departed this life on Wednesday July 23,2025. Eric was born on February 15,1963 to the late Rudolph & Louvenia Sanders.
Eric was born in Newark, New Jersey and educated within the Newark school system where he played football for Malcolm X Shabazz High School. This is where his passion for sports was born. Watching and reading the sports page from cover to cover became his past time enjoyment.
After graduation Eric secured a position at Jewish Vocational Service at Metro West, where he dedicated many years as a shipping specialist before relocating to Philadelphia P.A.
Eric arrived in Philadelphia in 2007 where he trained for over a year to work beside his cousin with "People About Change Recovery Housing" as a Resident Manager within the Men's facility. Eric took on a second job as a security officer, where he met who he described as his best friend. Shannon Logan then became the love of his life and fiancé before her passing in 2023.
Eric was a gentle soul and easily made friends and acquaintances. He returned to his passion of helping men realizing his impact of those challenged with life struggles. Eric found his niche in life for encouraging and inspiring those challenged by the disease of addiction to find a better way. Eric studied at Villanova College to receive certification as a Certified Peer Specialist, allowing him to qualify for a position at Northeast Treatment Centers, as a CPS where he worked until his illness took control.
Eric was preceded in death by his mother & father: Rudolph & Louvenia Sanders, Brothers Rudolph Jr. Robert Lee, Freddie Lee, Rose Marie, Mary and fiancée Shannon.
Eric leaves to cherish his memory; Daughter Le'Nisha Rogers who he referred to as "My Queen", stepdaughters, Stephanie Rogers & Samantha Young. Sister: Linda Goode, Cousin/Sister: Sheila Sanders. Nieces Tiffany and Taylor Nephews Kenny, Jamarh, AlTariq, James, Maliq and Taron. Eric also leaves a host of cousins, great nieces, nephews, great friends and his longtime friend and confidant Robin.
We would like to honorably mention his core male alliance who had a scheduled zoom check in on a weekly basis, even after taking ill. Thank you for your strength and support.
