Eric Bernard Smith was born on June 12, 1960 to the late Helen Smith and Jean Flame in Marion, SC.
Eric was known to friends as Ab or Abdul, but to his family he was known as Bunkie. He attended Miller Street School. He enjoyed all sports but he loved basketball out of them all. He was a son, cousin, father, grandfather and friend. For a short time, Eric worked in Irvington, NJ at Dessel & Company and IAM Moving Company.
Eric is preceded in death by: his parents, Helen Smith and Jean Flame; grandparents, Donella and Willie Smith; an aunt, Annie Doris Brown; and uncles, Harold, Billy and Sammy Smith.
Eric leaves to cherish his memories: his daughter, Shona Ruffin of Atlanta, GA; his son, Abdul Ryan of Carteret, NJ; a grandson, Kash Cier; along with cousins, a host of friends from his childhood; and his companion, Zeus Howard.
