Eric L. Wittner, 62, passed away Monday, June 30, 2025 in Monroe, Ga. He was born July 2, 1962, in Rockford, Ill. The son of Arnold and Gayle Wittner, Eric developed a passion for taking care of others early in his life. He took pride in the accomplishments of his family members and friends and made an effort to put others before himself.
Eric loved the beach, riding motorcycles, cycling, dogs, baseball, and music. He worked as a senior systems programmer for American General Finance before becoming a software consultant for BMC Software, and then a lead operations analyst for TSYS (Global Payments), where he worked for the final 17 years of his life.
Before holding any of those positions, Eric worked a paper route which afforded him the opportunity to purchase a 10-speed Schwinn bicycle. He maintained and rode that same bike until finally upgrading to a Trek, which he cherished, in 2020. He was a man who found beauty in the simplicities of life. An Illinois native, he quickly adjusted to the slowed-down southern lifestyle after moving to Georgia in 1997. He found joy and peace in spending time with family and enjoying God's creation outdoors.
Eric was preceded in death by his father Arnold Wittner. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Kit Wittner; sons Mason Wittner (Lindsey) and Lorne Wittner; mother Gayle Wittner; brother Dave Wittner (Donna); and sisters Denise Erickson and Betty Eckstein (Warren).
A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held for Eric at First Baptist Church of Loganville Saturday, July 12. Visitation will take place starting at 10 a.m., followed by a service at 11 a.m. led by Rev. Ronnie Kendall.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Glioblastoma Foundation.
