Obituary published on Legacy.com by Acres West Funeral Chapel and Crematory - West Odessa on Nov. 20, 2025.
Erica Jean Cruz, a beacon of light and joy to everyone she met, passed away on November 16, 2025, in her hometown of
Odessa, Texas. She was born on April 9, 1983, to Rual Rivera and Tomasa Rivera.
Erica will always be remembered as the best wife to her husband, Hector, and the number one mom to her children, Jeremiah Xavier Jefferson, Angelo "Jello cup" Cruz, and Alicia Cruz. Family was the cornerstone of Erica's life, and she extended her maternal warmth to her daughter-in-law, Kimberlee Dominguez. Her siblings, Jolene Rivera, Raul Rivera, and Isaiah Rivera, along with sisters-in-law Pamela Evans and Genoveva "Payasa" Gonzales, shared not only a lifetime of memories but also the sorrow of bidding goodbye to such a vibrant soul. Her fondness for animals was apparent in her special bond with her fur babies, Lulu and Midnight.
Preceded in death by her beloved grandmother, Emilia "Lita" Jaquez, her parents Raul and Tomasa Rivera, and her cherished daughter, Destiny Jolene Cruz. Erica's memory will live on as a testament to her joyful existence and the deep care she had for all those around her. Always the life of the party, she possessed a magnetic energy that could light up the darkest of rooms, and her infectious smile will be sorely missed.
Erica was known for her candor, often described as someone who had no filter, yet it was this very trait that endeared her to many. She had an innate ability to sense emotions, checking on those around her, ensuring they were truly okay, and offering her support. As a caregiver, her dedication was unparalleled, always looking out for and protecting the people she cared about.
Erica's spirit and legacy will live on through the stories shared, the laughter remembered, and the lives she touched. While her family and friends mourn her passing, they also celebrate the remarkable life of Erica Jean Cruz-a woman of boundless love, unwavering support, and a radiant smile that could heal hearts and lift spirits. Her presence was a gift to all, and though she has left this world, the impact of her love endures.
