Nora L. Shellenberger, a woman of warmth and joy, left this world on November 20, 2025, having blessed our lives for 85 radiant years. Born on April 24, 1940, in the close-knit community of Mathis, TX, Nora's journey through life was marked by an unwavering spirit of love and dedication that touched every soul she encountered.
Nora's early years in Texas laid the foundation for the remarkable woman she would become. She attended Ft. Stockton and Odessa High Schools, where her bright mind and kind heart shone through in all her endeavors, foreshadowing the incredible impact she would have in her professional and personal life.
Her career path led her to a role that perfectly matched her nurturing nature; Nora worked as an aide and unit secretary in the newborn nursery at Medical Center Hospital. With each tiny life she touched, Nora's gentle hands and soothing voice became a source of comfort and hope for countless families. Her journey continued at the Women's and Children's Hospital before she transitioned to serve as a clerk for the United States Postal Service. After 20 years of diligent service, Nora embraced retirement, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and excellence.
Nora's Christian faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and filling her heart with boundless love. She embodied the virtues of her belief-kindness, patience, and generosity-inspiring all who knew her to strive for a life of purpose and grace.
A lover of life's simple pleasures, Nora found joy in the laughter of a game night with loved ones, rolling dice in Yahtzee, strategizing in Wa Hoo, or skillfully playing her cards in Skip Bo. Her enthusiasm was infectious, turning every gathering into a celebration of togetherness. Nora's love for Hallmark Christmas movies, The Price is Right, and Let's Make a Deal was more than just entertainment; it was a reflection of her eternal optimism and belief in happy endings.
Nora was the epitome of a loving, thoughtful, and passionate soul. Her unwavering support and love for her family were her greatest gifts. She leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories with her beloved daughter Sarah Shellenberger of
Odessa, TX, and her brother Carl (Gladys) of Texarkana, TX. Nora's extended family, including in-laws Betty Stark of Mesquite, TX; Frances (Glen) Tabor of Forney, TX; Al (Marcie) Shellenberger of Midland, TX; and Glenda (Jeffrey) Taylor of Levelland, TX, as well as her many nephews, nieces, and cousins, will forever hold her in their hearts.
Preceded in death by her husband, Don Shellenberger, and her parents, C. O. and Faye Tiemann, as well as her in-laws, Walter and Sarah Shellenberger, Nora now joins them in eternal peace, leaving us with a legacy of love that will continue to inspire for generations to come.
Nora's life was a testament to the beauty of giving, the strength of kindness, and the power of a life well-lived. As we celebrate Nora L. Shellenberger, let us carry forward her light, living each day with the same passion and love that she so graciously shared with the world. Her spirit, forever etched in our memories, will continue to guide us, reminding us that every day is a gift to be cherished and every person a treasure to be loved.
