Donald E. Shellenberger, 80, of McAlisterville, passed away on Monday, January 12, 2026 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 7, 1945 and is the son of the late Paul R. and Blanche M. (Hubbert) Shellenberger. On August 26, 1967, he married the love of his life, Gail A. (Shilling) Shellenberger, with whom he was blessed to share over 58 years of marriage before his passing. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Catherine L. (Shellenberger) Ritter and her husband Mark of McClure and Preston C. Shellenberger and his wife Tina (Thuy Tien Thi) of Mill Hall; eleven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one son in law, L. Russell Bowersox of McAlisterville; one daughter in law, Christina A. (Kepner) Shellenberger of Thompsontown; siblings, Loretta (Shellenberger) Roush and her husband Dick, Paul Shellenberger and his wife Vicki (Casner), RuthAnn (Shellenberger) Graybill, all of Mifflintown, Daniel Shellenberger and his wife Kathy of Harrisburg; one sister in law, Pam Shellenberger; and many generations of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three children, Paula W. Bowersox, Parrish P. "Perry" Shellenberger, and Korena L. "Korry" Clukey; one son in law, Mark W. Clukey, Sr.; one grandson, Joshua R. Bowersox; and one brother, John T. Shellenberger. Mr. Shellenberger honorably served our country in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard from April 1964 to April 1970. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, January 19, 2026 at the Oakland Mills Evangelical Methodist Church, 148 Leonard Road, Oakland Mills with Pastor Kalem Mowery officiating. Interment will follow in Old Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal where full military burial honors will be accorded by the Juniata County Veteran's Council.. A Viewing will take place from 1:00 PM until the time of the funeral services at 2:00 PM on Monday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Mr. Shellenberger's memory to UPMC Home Healthcare and Family Hospice, 20 Sheraton Drive, Altoona, PA 16601. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 111 Westfall St., McAlisterville. Online condolences and tributes can be shared with the family at www.brownfuneralhomesinc.com.
