Audrey M. Gilbert

Audrey M. Gilbert, 85, of Mifflin, passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2026 at the Locust Grove Retirement Village, Mifflin.

Born on August 16, 1940 in Juniata County, she is a daughter of the late William H. "Bill" and Martha C. (Burd) Landis.

On December 7, 1985, she married her late husband, John "Shorty" Gilbert, with whom she was blessed to share over 19 years of marriage before his passing on August 9, 2005.

She is survived by her children, Ethel Adams and her husband Michael of McVeytown, Sandra Wagner and her husband John of Mifflintown, and Jennifer Gilbert and her companion Randy Freet of Honey Grove, Rosemary Vuxta and her husband Jim of Bainbridge, John Gilbert and his wife Onalee of Craley, Tina Hile of Richfield, and William Gilbert of Lancaster County; grandchildren, Jessica Kramer, Jon Varner, Lisa Miller, Brian Wagner, Bobby Wileman, Tiffany Arnold, Carrie Hepner, Hunter Frantz, Katelynn Frantz, Johnny Gilbert, and Jasmine Preston; twenty great grandchildren; siblings, David Landis and his wife Cheryl of Thompsontown, RuthAnn Fosselman of McAlisterville, Samuel Landis of McAlisterville, Daniel Landis of McAlisterville, and Donna Walters of McAlisterville; one sister in law, Deb Landis; and many generations of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Rita Ehrenzeller; one son in law, Charles Hile; two brothers, Jonathan Landis and Luke Landis; one sister in law, Diana Landis; and two brother in laws, Dale Fosselman and Robert Walters.

In earlier life, Mrs. Gilbert was employed for over 30 years with the Richfield Shirt Factory as a folder and later retired from Empire Kosher, Inc., Mifflintown.

She enjoyed camping, spending time with her family and friends and loved listening to Gospel music, Country music, and Bluegrass.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 20, 2026 at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 111 Westfall St., McAlisterville with Brian Worley and Glenn Lauver officiating. Interment will follow in Lauvers Mennonite Cemetery, Evendale.

A viewing will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of the funeral services at 11:00 AM on Friday at the funeral home.
