Erik C. Frederick, born June 24, 1971, passed away on December 31, 2025, at Westchester Medical Center following a brief illness. He was 54 years old.
Erik was born at Eielson Air Force Base in
Fairbanks, Alaska, to William R. Frederick Sr. and Helen I. Bravi. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished family member whose presence brought warmth, kindness, and genuine connection to all who knew him.
Erik proudly served in the United States Army as a chef, a role that reflected both his discipline and his love of cooking. He later worked at F&F Transport, Inc. in Fonda, New York, where he was respected for his strong work ethic and reliability.
Outside of work, Erik was an avid reader who loved books and the quiet comfort they brought him.
Erik was known for his exceptional warmth, gentle humor, and the easy way he could make others feel at home. He loved spending time with family and friends, cooking meals for those he cared about, or simply relaxing together around a campfire.
His sense of humor-sometimes subtle, sometimes playful- was a source of comfort and joy to those closest to him.
Erik shared a deep and loving bond with his wife, Danielle.
Their relationship was built on devotion, partnership, and unwavering support for one another. Together, they created a life rooted in love, laughter, and shared purpose. He also loved his daughter fiercely, calling her his "Sweet Pea," and saw her as his greatest accomplishment and most treasured gift. Time spent with his family was what mattered most to him.
His mother often described Erik as having "a poet's heart," a reflection of his sensitivity, depth, and the quiet way he experienced the world. Though his life was far too short, Erik's love, kindness, and gentle spirit will continue to live on-especially through his daughter, who carries his light forward.
He was preceded in death by his father, William R. Frederick Sr.
Erik is survived by his beloved wife, Danielle Frederick (née Sherman), and their five-year-old daughter, Caroline; his mother, Helen I. Bravi of Johnstown; his brother, William R.
Frederick Jr. (Rachel) of Austin, Texas; his aunt, Leigh Yerdon (Al Davis) of Johnstown; a host of beloved in-laws; and several loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Calling hours for family and friends will be held on Friday, January 9, 2025, from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at A.G. Cole Funeral Home, 215 E. Main Street, Johnstown.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that contributions be made to his five-year-old daughter's college savings program. https://www.ugift529.com/home.html. Code: U9J-Y1Y.
