VALLANCE, Erik John – With shattered hearts, we share the passing of Erik John Vallance, a devoted husband, father, and friend, who left this world far too soon at the age of 45.
Erik was the very definition of love, patience, and kindness. He was the rock of his family, a man who led with compassion and a steady hand, and the best girl dad a daughter could ever dream of having. His greatest joy in life was caring for his "girls," who were truly the center of his world-the "3 Musketeers."
This past summer, Erik was excitedly preparing for the next chapter of life with his family. He worked tirelessly clearing the six acres of property they had just purchased, where together they planned to build their forever home surrounded by nature. He delighted in sharing with Halana and Jamie the deer he spotted and the butterflies that graced the land-reminders of Jim's presence and the time he had spent with Jamie's dad, Jim, who was also his best friend. His spirit will forever live on in that place, among the trees, the wildlife, and the dreams he carried for his family.
Erik's creativity and artistic side also shone through in the traditions he built with his girls. Every autumn, he looked forward to sketching pumpkin designs and carving them together, always finishing the night with a batch of good ol' fried pumpkin seeds-a simple, cherished family ritual filled with laughter and love.
Erik found happiness in life's simple joys-early mornings with a fishing pole, afternoons on the golf course, and quiet time in nature. He had a gift for making people laugh, a presence that made everyone feel like a friend, and a unique, deep voice that was instantly recognized. He was also known to tell his wife with a smile, "just a couple more casts and I'll be home"-a phrase that now carries even deeper meaning.
Erik's memory will live on in the love he gave so freely, the laughter he shared so generously, and the countless moments of warmth and joy he brought into the lives of everyone blessed to know him. He will be missed beyond measure by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jamie, and their cherished daughter, Halana, as well as his mother, Beverly McColl; father, Dale Vallance; sisters, Sam Prevo and Holly Dodge; mother-in-law, Marsha Sprouse; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his beloved stepmom, Judy "Mema" Vallance; father-in-law, James Sprouse; grandparents, Joyce and Emmerson McColl; and grandparents, Lawrence "Dago" and Monica Vallance.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Erik's honor on Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Station No. 1 Fire Hall Center, 10214 Hegel Rd, Goodrich, MI 48438. Family and friends are warmly invited to gather, share memories, and honor the incredible man Erik was.
A life so full of love and light cannot be measured in years, but in the way he touched hearts-and Erik touched many. As we hold him close in memory, we know he is never far just a couple more casts away.
