Erika Esposito Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home on Feb. 17, 2026.
Erika is survived by her loving family and her three children, Nancy and her husband, Mark, Michael, and Laura and her husband; Brian, along with Laura and Brian's children, Oliver and Abigail, who were among the great delights of her later years. To her devoted husband, George, who affectionately called her "Riki", she was a cherished companion in a partnership that spanned more than 64 remarkable years, 57 of them in marriage. Their life together was not merely long; it was steadfast, tender, and deeply rooted in mutual devotion.
She is also lovingly remembered by her sister, Chrissy, and Chrissy's children, Daniel and Nickki; by her brothers-in-law, Charles and his wife, Patty, and their children Jessie, Timmy, Eric, and Jackie; by Donald and his children Jennifer, Jason, and Johnathan and niece, Michelle.
Erika lived a cultivated and joyful life, shaped by intellect, curiosity, and an abiding reverence for tradition. She delighted in the elegant struggle of The New York Times crossword puzzle, treated board and card games as a celebration during family holidays, and cherished the enduring grace of classic black-and-white films. Her fascination with English history spoke to a mind drawn to continuity and narrative, to the ways in which the past influences the present. She took pleasure in collecting antique Flow Blue China and copper cookware, objects that, in her hands, became vessels of memory and beauty. Her holiday gatherings were not merely events; they were lovingly orchestrated expressions of belonging.
In her grandchildren, Oliver and Abigail, Erika discovered a renewal of wonder. She joined their world with wholehearted enthusiasm, assembling jigsaw puzzles, playing on the floor amid toys, and offering that singular, unconditional affection known only as a grandmother's love. In their laughter, she found both joy and continuity; in their presence, a living testament to the family she and George had so lovingly nurtured.
A dedicated and generous member of her community, Erika believed that one's life must extend beyond the private sphere of home into a broader fellowship of service. Alongside George, she was an active member of the Brick Elks Lodge 2151 for more than twenty years, where she served faithfully as an award-winning Chaplain, Inner Guard, and member of the Drug Awareness Committee. In these roles, she embodied compassion in action, offering comfort, dignity, and steadfast commitment to those in need.
Riki will be remembered for the largeness of her heart, the quiet strength of her character, and the joy she drew from family and fellowship. Her legacy endures not in grand proclamations but in the lives she shaped, the traditions she safeguarded, and the love she so freely bestowed. She leaves behind a family knit together by her example and a community enriched by her presence. She will be deeply missed, gratefully remembered, and forever loved.
A memorial gathering will be held at the Brick Elks Lodge 2151, 2491 Hooper Avenue, Brick on Thursday, February 19, 2026 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM with a memorial service to follow at 8:30 PM.
