Erika P. Ritchie, age 78, of Corbin, passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Baptist Health Corbin.
Born in Slemp, KY, she was the daughter of the late Paul Gorman Cornett and Emily Rice Cornett. She was a humble soul with a heart that radiated endless warmth, touching the lives of many. Her intelligence shined not only in her conversations but also in her remarkable career as a Dietician Supervisor at Baptist Health Corbin. As reflective of her thoughtful nature, Erika always had the well-being of others at the forefront of her mind.
Erika found solace in the embrace of nature, cherishing her time outdoors, be it mowing her yard or tending to her garden. Her love for cooking was second only to her love for her family. Erika's kitchen was her sanctuary, where she prepared countless meals infused with her love. She was a loving mother who believed that her children and family were the most important treasures of her life. Each "I love you" she uttered was a testament to her undying affection, one that grew stronger with each passing day.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Clayton Ritchie; and brothers, Bobby and Ovie Cornett.
She is survived by her children, Elmer Ray Buckhart (Tammy), Robert Brian Buckhart, and Harold Clayton Buckhart (Sandie); grandchildren, Robert Brian Buckhart, Jr., Erika Buckhart, Chelsea Green, Paul Buckhart, Marcus Meadors, Josh Trussell, and Marla Clark; sisters, Annette Miniard and Linda Cornett; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
