Erin Rae Barrett Matthews, 49, of Spokane, Washington died Thursday, May 22, 2025.
Rosary will be at 6:00 PM, Friday, June 13, 2025, at St. Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church, 4100 S. Coulter. Mass will be at 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 14, 2025, at St. Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church with Father John Valdez officiating. The family requests that bright colors are worn. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Erin Matthews, beloved mother, daughter, sister, and educator.
Born on April 5th 1976 in Amarillo Texas, Erin was a devoted mother, a dedicated teacher, and a woman of deep faith. She was a graduate of West Texas A&M, and went on to spend many years shaping young minds as a 7th grade English teacher. She was also a longtime Sunday school teacher, faithfully serving her church and community with compassion, humility, and joy.
Erin’s unwavering relationship with God was central to her life. She lived out her faith through acts of kindness, service to others, and a steadfast commitment to sharing God’s love. Her devotion to her faith and her family was evident in everything she did.
She is survived by her daughters, Grace and McCall Matthews, her parents Natalie and Allan Barrett, and her brother Nathan Barrett, and many extended family members, friends, former students, and church members who were blessed to know her.
In lieu of personal gifts, the family kindly requests that any floral arrangements be sent directly to Saint Thomas Apostle Catholic Church, in honor of Erin Rae Barrett Matthews. Your thoughtfulness and support are deeply appreciated during this time.
