It is with heavy hearts that we celebrate the life of Erin Margaret McHugh, a cherished daughter, sister, and friend, who left us too soon on November 24, 2024 at the tender age of 22. Born in Tampa, Florida, on February 28, 2002, to Shawn and Jacqueline McHugh, Erin's journey through life was marked by her infectious spirit and creative talents.
From an early age, Erin exhibited a remarkable gift in the kitchen, delighting her family and friends with her exceptional baking and cooking. Her meals were not just dishes but heartfelt contributions that brought people together, showcasing her love through every bite. Erin’s culinary creations were a testament to her kind and nurturing nature, bringing warmth and joy to gatherings that will forever be cherished.
Her love for animals was evident from childhood; Erin had a gentle heart that resonated with all creatures great and small. She possessed an innate ability to connect with them, often seeing beauty and love in the smallest of beings. This profound compassion extended beyond animals to everyone she met, creating lasting bonds and friendships throughout her life.
Erin's legacy is etched in the hearts of those she leaves behind. She is survived by her devoted Father, Shawn McHugh; her loving Mother, Jacqueline McHugh; her adoring Brother, Jared McHugh; and her cherished Maternal Grandmother, Marlene Charlick. Erin is also remembered by her Aunts and Uncles - Deborah Robatin, Nicole Charlick, and Ruth (Bobbie) Gabbard, James (Christine) McHugh Timothy (Kathleen) McHugh, and Karen (Harry) Swartzbaugh. A multitude of family members and friends will carry her memory forward, holding close the moments shared and the love given freely.
Erin was a valedictorian of her high school class and top of her radiology class at NKU, she was classic beauty and fiercely loyal to those she loved. She loved children and her time spent as a camp counselor at her high school, which was the same camp she attended as a child herself. She was a gentle soul that lit up a room when she entered. Her bright light in the lives of others will never be extinguished.
As we remember Erin, let us celebrate not just the heart-wrenching loss but also the vibrant life she led - a life imbued with creativity, compassion, and love. May her spirit continue to inspire us as we gather around tables filled with food, laughter, and the warmth that she so freely shared. Erin will be dearly missed but will live on in the memories and hearts of all who loved her.
