Erlinda Aguirre
April 17, 1946 - September 30, 2025
Erlinda "Herlinda" Aguirre, 79, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2025. She was born on April 17, 1946, in San Antonio, Texas, to Dora M. Alderete and Ramon I. Vega, and was lovingly raised by her grandparents, Seferino and Margarita Maldonado.
Erlinda was a proud graduate of Harlandale High School and spent her career in medical billing for various doctors in San Antonio. She was respected for her professionalism, attention to detail, occasional feistiness, and kind, approachable spirit.
A devoted member of the Catholic faith, Erlinda volunteered for many years in different capacities at Resurrection of the Lord Catholic Church. Her faith was the foundation of her life and guided her daily actions. She was an example of how to live with compassion-treating everyone she met with kindness and respect, whether rich or poor.
Erlinda was full of life and laughter. Everyone remembers how she could light up a room with her sense of humor, sharing laughter with everyone she met and making others smile with her quick wit and warmth. She loved to dance, sing, and enjoy a good game of Lotería with friends and family-and she was known to occasionally test her luck at a casino or two.
She is survived by her sons Alejandro "Alex" Aguirre (Cristina), Santiago "Jimmy" Aguirre; and her beloved grandchildren Tristan Aguirre and Amanda Garza. She is also survived by her brothers Larry Alderete (Cynthia) and Ysidro "Jr." Alderete (Linda) of San Antonio, and her step-brothers and sisters in Colorado whom she met later in life and welcomed into her heart: Ramon Vega, Jessie Vega, Maria Elena Palma, Delfina Cruz, Robert Vega, Tony Vega, Pete Vega, Rudy Vega, Tomasa Gonzalez, Alice Zambrano, and Nora Salazar. Erlinda was preceded in death by her ex-husband, Santiago M. Aguirre, daughter-in-law Deborah Aguirre and brother, Jessie Alderete.
Erlinda's life was one of faith, family, and joy. Her laughter, love, and compassion will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
