ERMA JEAN COX, born on the 2nd of August, 1943, in Kosse, Texas, and embraced by the warmest family and community, passed from this world on the 27th of August, 2025, in Dallas, Texas, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering strength.

Erma, a graduate of Washington High School's esteemed class of 1962, displayed an insatiable thirst for knowledge, which led her to further her education at both Prairie View A&M and Texas Southern University. The ethos of lifelong learning permeated her life, as she not only acquired knowledge but generously imparted it to those she loved.

With resilience and determination, Erma became a self-employed entrepreneur, proudly running the Cox Adult Foster Care Home for over two decades. Her achievements as a successful Black female business owner stood as a testament to her fortitude and commitment to serve the community with compassion and grace. Under her careful stewardship, she created a nurturing environment that reflected her subtle, soft-spoken demeanor, alongside her beautiful smile that could light up the darkest of days.

Erma was known for her great sense of humor and infectious laugh, qualities that endeared her to all who were privileged to know her. Her discussions, often a blend of wisdom and wit, will remain cherished memories for her surviving family members, including her daughters Marcy and LaQuinta Cox. The love of her siblings—Johnnie Wright, Marie Williams, Mildred Willis, Bernice Hickman, and brother Roy Moore—crafted a familial tapestry woven with shared laughter, support, and love.

Erma was preceded in death by her beloved spouse, Quinton Cox, and her cherished parents, Ozzie and Mable Moore. She now joins her departed siblings: Annie Faye Hicks, Charles Moore, Freddie Moore, and Ozzie Mauldin, in eternal peace.

As we gather to honor Erma’s life, we invite all who knew and loved her to attend her Viewing on September 5, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM, and the subsequent Celebration of Life on September 6, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, both to be held at the Golden Gate Funeral Home-Dallas, situated at 4155 S R. L. Thornton Fwy, Dallas, Texas.

With her departure, the world has dimmed a little, yet her spirit will forever resonate in the hearts of those she touched. Erma Jean Cox was not merely a name; she was a beacon of kindness, a lover of antiques, a conversationalist, and an adventurer. In her memory, let us inspire one another to carry forth her legacy of generosity and love, ensuring that her laughter continues to echo through our lives and in our hearts.
