Erma Dene Padgett, 85, of Eubank, Kentucky passed away Monday, December 29, 2025.
She was born in Blue Diamond, Kentucky to the late Condy and Leura (Robinson) Cook. Erma loved cooking, canning, and gardening, finding joy in caring for others through the work of her hands. She was deeply religious, and her faith guided every part of her life. Her church was truly her home, and she was a devoted, helpful, and dedicated member, especially at Eubank Baptist Church during the later years of her life. Erma also took great pride in her work, spending more than thirty years as a cashier at Kroger. She was a dedicated employee from 1986 until her retirement in 2023, known for her strong work ethic and warm, friendly presence.
She is survived by her son, Rick & (Annette) Padgett; her daughter, Cathy Unhoch; a brother, Condy Junior & (Nancy) Cook; six grandchildren, Dwight & (Mandy) Padgett, Brian & (Patricia) Padgett, Craig & (Carrie-Ann) Padgett, Clint & (Linda) Padgett, William & (Jennifer) Unhoch and Melissa & (Vince) Witherspoon; fourteen great-grandchildren, Shelby, Hannah, Hunter, Edward, Eliana, Mackenzie, Joseph, Caleigh, Christian, Skylar, Sage, Sienna, Izbella, and Maxx; one great-great-grandchild, Henry; and special friends, Debbie Walls and Linda Gastneau.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elgie Padgett; her parents, Condy & Leura Cook; a brother, Kenneth Marshall Cook; a sister, Callie Lucille Orcutt; and her son-in-law, Edward Unhoch.
Private services will be held for the family.
Burial will be at Double Springs Cemetery.
