Erma Louise Repine

Erma Louise Swain Repine, age 98, of Elizabeth City, NC, died on Friday, February 28, 2025. Born in Elizabeth City, NC on September 4, 1926, to the late Julia Markham Swain and Leary Swain, Sr., she was the widow of Herbert W. Repine. Erma was an active member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.
Known for her dedication and warmth, she touched many lives through her work as a devoted schoolteacher at Emmanuel Christian School. Her passion for education left a lasting impact on countless students who were fortunate to learn under her guidance. Beyond her role in the classroom, Erma was also a valued secretary at Emmanuel Baptist Church, where her kindness and diligence were appreciated by all who knew her. Her unwavering faith and commitment to her work were evident in everything she did, and she will be remembered for her gentle spirit and selfless nature.
Erma is survived by her daughter, Karen Repine; brother, Leary Franklin Swain, Jr.; grandchild, Sarah Coley (Steven); great-grandchildren Julia, Joseph, Jeffrey, and James Coley. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her sister, Margaret Boyles.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at Emmanuel Baptist Church with Pastor Kevin Senn officiating. Burial will take place at West Lawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church Mission Fund, 109 Chadburn Avenue, Elizabeth City, NC 27909.
