Erna Bennett Obituary
She was born on August 9, 1921, in Buffalo, Kansas the daughter of Robert Oscar Lacy and Nora (Williamson) Lacy. She attended schools in Buffalo, Kansas.
On June 28, 1938, in Coyville, Kansas she was united in marriage to Ralph Bennett, and he preceded her in death January 29, 1988.
Erna had worked for HD Lee Factory, Ordinance Plant, and Housel-Miller. She also spent many years as a dedicated daycare owner, impacting the lives of numerous children. Erna's love for children shone bright as she babysat over 50 little ones throughout her lifetime. Always adorned with a sweet smile, she found joy in listening to audio books, sharing the teachings of Jesus, and embracing every moment of fun that came her way.
Erna's passion for life extended beyond her work. She cherished moments spent with family and friends, creating beautiful memories that will be treasured forever. As she left this world, Erna was joined by six generations of her adoring family who gathered to celebrate her remarkable life.
In loving memory, Erna Mae Bennett is now reunited with her parents, husband Ralph Bennett, daughters Sharon Bennett and Jackie Lindquist, sons Charles and Kenneth Bennett, and daughter-in-law Marie Bennett. While we mourn her loss she is at peace in heaven.
Erna's spirit lives on through those who continue to cherish her memory. She is survived by Raymond Bennett of Quenemo, Kansas; daughters-in-law Joyce Bennett of Cherryvale, Kansas, and Mary Bennett of Ozark Missouri; 8 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; an abundance of great-great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-great-grandchildren.
A visitation to honor Erna's life will be held at Wickham Family Funeral Home in Cherryvale on March 15th from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM followed by a Celebration of Life at 1:00 PM. The final goodbye will take place at Fredonia City Cemetery in Fredonia with interment starting at 3:00 PM.
Memorial remembrances are suggested to Ronald McDonald House in Wichita, Kansas and they may be left or mailed to the funeral home.
Erna Mae Bennett will forever remain in our hearts as a beacon of light and love. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
