Ernest "Bib" Schexnider Obituary
Cecilia- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, July 29, 2024 at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Henderson for Ernest "Bib" Schexnider, 87, who passed away on July 25, 2024.
A visitation will take place at the funeral home in Cecilia on Sunday from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM and will continue on Monday from 8:00 AM to 10:15 AM.
A rosary will be prayed by Clark Schexnider at 6:00 PM on Sunday.
Rev. Michael Richard will officiate at the funeral mass. Readers will be Lindsey Arabie and Lindsay Schexnider. Gift bearers will be all of his great grandchildren. Musicians will be Patrick Melancon and Robin Landry.
Interment will follow at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery.
Ernest, known to many as "Bib" was a beloved husband, father, and farmer. Mr. Bib's hardworking spirit and love for his home and family were evident in every aspect of his life. Whether he was out duck hunting, tending to his rice fields, or working in his crawfish ponds, he found joy in the simplicity of nature and most importantly, his family. His presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all those who were fortunate enough to know him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Patsy Mae B. Schexnider; son, Ricky James Schexnider (Sharon); daughter, Kristene "Meg" Ann Arabie (Darrel); siblings, Raymond Schexnider (Dot), William Schexnider (Melinda), Sam Schexnider (Sandra), Lydia Schexnider, Barbara Schexnider, and Linda Frellish; grandchildren, Bruce Schexnider (Lindsay), Ryan Schexnider (Kelly), Lindsey Arabie, Michelle Blanchard, Dustin Breaux (Zoey) and Mamie Cooke; great grandchildren, Linus, Abigail, Isabella, Colin, Chanyng, Braxtyn, Ellyana, Briley, Ivy, Phonex, Breeze, Drake, Victorian, Kolby, and Brayden; and great great grandchildren, Ivan and baby on the way.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Fernest and Eugenie Leonard Schexnider; son, Michael "Fish" Schexnider; brother, Ray Schexnider; grandson, Tray Trahan; in-laws, Clismae and Rose Istre Broussard; brother-in-law, Golden Randy Broussard.
Pallbearers will be Joshua Blanchard, Yancy Blanchard, Devin Thibodeaux, Clark Schexnider, Merlin Bourque, and Mike Robin.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bruce Schexnider and Ryan Schexnider.
Pellerin Funeral Home (337-332-2111) is in charge of arrangements.
