Ernest Blanchard Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by A. G. Cole Funeral Home, Inc. on Mar. 27, 2026.
Ernest "Terry" Alton Blanchard, 72, of Johnstown, New York, passed away on March 26, 2026.

He was born on November 2, 1953, in Gloversville, New York, to the late Alton J. Blanchard and Lena M. "Clemons" Blanchard.

Terry was a man who found joy in the simple and meaningful things in life. He had a deep love for gardening and spent much of his time tending to his plants and enjoying the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, woodworking, and taxidermy, and had an appreciation for classic car shows and westerns. Terry also loved making planting videos and sharing his gardening knowledge with everyone, with his wife, Dawn, always by his side as his cameraman. Above all, he cherished the time he spent with his family and friends.

Terry is survived by his loving wife, Dawn M. "Teschka" Blanchard; his children, Brandon J. Blanchard and Tina M. Sartin; his grandchildren, James E. Sartin III, Mira E. Sartin, Stephanie E. Arndt, and Timothy J. Shaver; his great-grandchild, Acelia Sartin; and his siblings, Betty A. Thwaits, Robert Blanchard, Gary M. Blanchard, and Stephen R. Blanchard; his fur baby, Ginger.

He was predeceased by his sons, Stephen Blanchard and James "Jake" E. Sartin; his parents, Alton J. Blanchard and Lena M. "Clemons" Blanchard; and his siblings, Sandra A. Verigan, Alton "Butch" Poyfair, and Alton J. Blanchard; his fur babies, Star and Molly.

God has gained another angel in Terry. He will be loved, remembered, and deeply missed by all whose lives he touched, and he will be forever cherished for his love of nature, his skilled hands, his generosity in sharing knowledge, and the quiet strength he brought to those around him.

In keeping with his wishes there will be no calling hours or funeral services.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the A.G. Cole Funeral Home Inc., 215 E. Main Street, Johnstown, NY.
