Gregory Satterlee Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by A. G. Cole Funeral Home, Inc. on Mar. 17, 2026.
Gregory Satterlee

April 30, 1965 – March 14, 2026

Gregory Satterlee, 60, of Johnstown, New York, passed away surrounded by his loved ones.

Born on April 30, 1965, he was the son of Donald and Katherine Satterlee.

Greg graduated from Johnstown High School in 1983 and proudly served his country in the United States Navy for six years aboard the destroyer USS Joseph Strauss during the Persian Gulf Conflict. Following his military service, Greg dedicated more than two decades to the New York State Department of Corrections, retiring with the rank of Sergeant.

Deeply rooted in his community, Greg generously gave his time and energy to many organizations. He served as a coach and board member for Johnstown Little League and was active with the Royal Mountain Moonlighters ATV Club and the Oppenheim Trail Blazers. He was also a member of the Ephratah Rod and Gun Club, Pine Tree Rifle Club, and the Concordia Club.

Greg served his community as the Town of Johnstown Supervisor and founded the Kindness Cart program for Johnstown elementary schools, reflecting his caring and community-minded spirit. He was also a former member of the Capital District Football Officials Association and the Schenectady Baseball Umpire Association. Always willing to lend a helping hand, Greg helped organize a golf tournament for a fellow corrections officer and could also be found helping out at Roger's Orchard and Dan's Excavation.

Greg had a deep love for the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, camping, playing softball, and spending time at Grandview Marina with friends. He looked forward to Navy ship reunions, where he reconnected with shipmates and shared memories of his service. Above all, Greg treasured time with his family. He loved spending time and taking trips with his son, Aiden and his girlfriend Michele. He especially loved family dinners with his great niece and great nephews.

Greg is survived by his beloved son, Aiden Satterlee; his significant other, Michele Jackson; his mother, Katherine Satterlee; siblings Mike Satterlee (Gigi), Sharon Roth (Gregg), Sue Pulis (Bill), Stacey Lee (Rich), and DJ Satterlee (Kathy); along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Donald Satterlee.

Greg will be remembered for his kindness, sense of humor, dedication to family and friends, and his lifelong commitment to serving others.

Arrangements are being entrusted to AG Cole Funeral Home. Friends and relatives are invited to pay their respects Thursday, March 19, 2026 between the hours of 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM with a service to follow at 6:00 PM with Mother Laurie Garramone officiating and military honors.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Greg's name to Donate Life, Johnstown Little League or an organization mentioned above.
