Ernest Brandt Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Roberts & Sons Funeral Home - Foxborough on Feb. 27, 2026.
With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for 93 remarkable years, we share the passing of our father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Ernest Keith Brandt. We will miss him deeply and will carry his stories and lessons with us always.

Ernest Keith Brandt

August 5, 1932 – February 23, 2026

Ernest Keith Brandt, age 93, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2026. Born in Peoria, Illinois, Ernie lived a life defined by hard work, resilience, humor, and, above all, love for his family.

The eldest of three boys, he developed a strong work ethic early. In 1951, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served aboard a recommissioned destroyer escort ship. He later became the ship's baker which was a role he held with pride until his honorable discharge in 1954.

In 1955, he married Isabelle Harrington, and together they raised their three children -Susan, Janet, and John - in Randolph, Massachusetts. Isabelle passed away in 1983, and their son John in 2012.

Ernie later married Janet (Palmer), who shared his love of travel until her passing in 1994. In later years, he shared companionship with Marge McMurray until her passing in 2022.

He built a long career in food service, beginning at Jordan Marsh in Boston, where he rose to oversee multiple restaurant and bakery operations throughout New England. He later operated a family Dairy Queen and spent nineteen years at Servomation supporting Meals on Wheels programs for seniors.

He is survived by his daughter Susan and her husband Donald Mennella of Madison, New Jersey; his daughter Janet and her husband David Fisher of Foxborough, Massachusetts; his granddaughter Allison Fisher of Richmond, Virginia; and his granddaughter Lauren Luro, her husband Scott Luro, and their daughter Zoe Isabelle Luro of Somerville, Massachusetts.

Donations in his memory may be made to the Foxboro Food Pantry. A celebration of life will be planned for the summer of 2026.

Ernie will be missed by all who knew this wonderful, kind, happy gentleman! My family and I have had the privilege and pleasure of meeting Ernie a few years ago when our dear Aunt Lorraine moved to the same community as Ernie. He was one of the first residents to welcome her to the community/ neighborhood and so friendly. We played card games together and it was his idea to start the welcoming "getting to know you" and "starting mindful conversations" card games. We got him the card packs that he suggested and he happily shared these games, first with small groups to get to know residents better, and then he shared with the activities staff member to play with whole groups. This was a big hit and helped the interested residents to socialize and get to know more interesting information about each other. Ernie was amazing and kind to all! You´d often find him sitting outside in the sunshine (in his favorite spot) and with a smile. (He had the glowing tan from Florida!) He´d welcome all visitors walking into the building with a hello wave or with his beautiful smile. He also shared stories about his life while growing up, being in the service, his time cooking, and most of all his love for his family! He was so proud of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ernie was a friend to all ages and had very close friends in his community who he had special bonds with. We will miss Ernie very much and keep many happy memories of him in our hearts. We know that Ernie is smiling in Heaven and reunited with his loved ones. He will be with you all in spirit and watch over you with a smile. Sending you all peace and strength. Our thoughts are with you all. Sincerely, Marcy S. and family
