Barbara H. Downs

Barbara H. (Jackson) Downs, age 93, of Scituate, a long-time former Foxborough, MA resident, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 at the Cardigan Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility in Scituate. She was the daughter of the late John and Mildred (Perry) Jackson.

Barbara was born on January 19, 1933 in Somerville, MA. She married her late husband William Otis Downs on October 26, 1951 in Somerville. She was a former secretary for the principal at the Ahern Middle School and for the Assistant Superintendent for the Foxborough Public schools for many years. She was a long-time member and former deacon of the Bethany Congregational Church in Foxborough. She and Bill spent winters in Ft. Myers, FL. She enjoyed traveling, solving crossword puzzles, was an avid reader and was an active participant at the Council on Aging in Foxborough and loved her dogs, Buster, Molly and Ladybug. She most enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Loving mother of Cindy and her husband Ken Carrison of Scituate, Heather Cruickshanks of Reading, MA and Paul Downs and his wife Pam of Kill Devil Hills, NC. Devoted grandmother of Mark, Michael, Jennifer, Sarah and Alexander and Chloe and Troy. Great grandmother of Colton and Parker, Borys and Maryna and Addilyn and Rowan. Beloved aunt of Alice Downs of UT and several loving nieces and nephews. Sister of the late Robert, Jackson and his wife Evelyn and Gordon Jackson and his wife Phyllis.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Wednesday, March 18 from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Roberts and Sons Funeral Home, 30 South Street, Foxborough. A funeral service will be held at 1 PM at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Rock Hill Cemetery, Foxborough

Barbara's family would like to thank the Cardigan Nursing and Rehab facility for their excellent care of Barbara for the last several years.
