Ernest George Brown, age 92, of Adamsville community, passed away October 19, 2025. He was born August 26, 1933, a son of the late George Brown and Maida Furner Brown.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years Eleanor R. Bennett Brown whom he married March 24, 1962.
Ernest is survived by 19 children; Michael (Janet) Brown of Florida, Douglas Brown of Shinnston, Theodore (Imane) Brown of West Milford, Joseph Brown of Ohio, Roger Brown of Florida, Andrew Brown of Florida, Ryan Brown of Ohio, Erich Brown of Shinnston, Geoffrey Brown of Shinnston, Jennifer (Charles) Herrod of West Milford, Mia (Edward) Weirzbowski of Gibsonia, PA, Angela L. S. Brown of Tucson, AZ, Brenda Blair of Clarksburg, Kelli (Matt) Cottrill of Pt. Pleasant, Sarah K. Brown of Clarksburg, Marc Brown of Clarksburg, Liza Brown of Delaware, Molli (Chad) Feathers of Clarksburg and Sara E. Hollen of Hampstead, NC. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Ernest was preceded in death by three children, Courtney Brown, Roderick Brown, and Luke Brown; and one sister, Patricia McCarthy.
He spent his early childhood in Knightsville and Summersville in South Carolina and on the Furner farm in Jarvisville, WV. He worked at Hazel Atlas Glass in Clarksburg for a year following his graduation from Bristol High School in 1951.
Ernest then joined the US Army and was stationed in France during the Korean War. He also worked at the Pentagon. Following his service in the military, he graduated from West Virginia University. He also attended Bowling Green, Salem University and Fairmont State.
Ernest dedicated 30 years of his life to teaching in Ohio. He pioneered the special education program in the Junior High, High School and work study program in the Plymouth and Ontario School Districts. He was also a District Executive for the Boy Scouts of America in Ohio.
His biggest love was for his wife and kids. Ernest was a wise, kind, loving, intelligent and very humorous soul. He easily made friends wherever he went. He loved traveling with his family, playing solitaire, and making people laugh. Anyone who knew him respected and loved him. He loved to collect antiques and never drove by an antique store without stopping. He also loved his miniature horses, dogs, rabbits, and chickens.

Family and friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Ave., Bridgeport from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Friday, October 24, 2025. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 with Pastor Jeff Perine and Pastor Brad Bennett presiding.
