Ernest Ray Casey, cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed away on January 20, 2023, in Jackson, Mississippi at the age of 74 years, 2 months and 7 days. He was born November 11, 1948, in Shidler, Oklahoma to Edward and Clara Jean (Rhodes) Casey.
Ernest grew up in Pryor, Oklahoma and graduated from Pryor High School in 1967. After high school he joined the United States navy. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving with the United States Navy but stationed as a corpsman with the United States Marines. While in the Navy he met his best friend Sally Ann Romero – they were married on March 10, 1973. He brought her back to Pryor where they raised their family and where he later retired from the United States Postal Service.
Ernie (or Casey, as he was called by many) enjoyed fishing, reading westerns, eating a good steak with royal reds, playing his guitar and any activity his grandkids loved. A bigger cheerleader did not exist if his grandkids were on the field or the stage. If you knew him, you probably got one of his hugs - he loved his friends and family well. He left behind a legacy of love for family and for Jesus and will be greatly missed.
Ernest is survived by wife Sally Ann Casey of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, daughter Hope Gustafson of Brandon, Mississippi, daughter Natalee Caley and husband Troy of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and son Victor Casey and wife Camren of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and 11 grandchildren: Bynum, Graham, Matthias and Solomon Gustafson, Nate, Allyson and Reagan Caley, and Emerson, Jensen, Nash, and Laikyn Casey, 1 sister Patty Clark and husband Wayne of Claremore, Oklahoma and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Edward Casey and Doug and Clara Jean (Rhodes-Casey) Littlefield and his sister Sandy Kilgore.
